What Can You Do With a Biology Degree? Mine Led to CMU and Big Tech.
A commenter asked what you can do with a degree in biology, and Austin Starks answered with his own path. He used his biology degree to earn a Master of Science in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, shown here on his resume. He then worked as a software engineer at Coinbase and Oscar Health, and his 2024 Oscar W-2 on screen shows Box 1 wages of $394,574.75.
The third thing he built with it is the Public Portfolio Challenge, which he calls the world's first public, real-money experiment in AI-designed trading strategies: four AI agents, one open runbook, and a real $25,000 account that anyone can check. The rules, trades and results are public on GitHub and NexusTrade.
