An engineer's walkthrough of a congressional filings paper bot
Austin shows how to turn delayed public congressional trade filings into a paper strategy with the NexusTrade SDK. The walkthrough covers the signal, options setup, and deployment flow. A separate published bot backtest shown on screen uses stocks and at-the-money calls; it is simulated, includes fees, and starts each trade only when the filing became public. No live brokerage trade is made.

0:00I'm a senior AI engineer, and I spend pretty much all of my time creating, testing, and deploying AI trading bots, and if you're a software engineer, then here's how you can, too.
0:15I'm going to demonstrate it by copying Nancy Pelosi's real public trades.
0:21Step one, we want to download the Nexus Trade SDK.
0:25We can do this using pip install Nexus Trade.
0:29Number two, we're going to create an API key so we can have access to Nexus Trade programmatically.
0:37And we're going to set that key in an environment variable never within our code base.
0:44Step three, we're going to create a politician indicator and add it to a dynamic rebalancing strategy.
0:53If we're only trading stocks, this is enough, but if we also want to trade options, we can configure that too in just a few lines of code.
1:06And that's really it.
1:08We'll deploy this strategy in real time so we can see how much money we've made by copying Nancy Pelosi.
1:19When we're ready to go live, we can connect a brokerage account and then start executing fully autonomous trading.
1:28And it really wasn't all that much code.
1:33Leave a comment below for who else we should be copying.
