Creating a strategy that performs well in a backtest is easy. The real test is how it performs right now. In this final video, I walk you through deployment - the process of taking your strategy live.

Here's the path: → Paper trading: Deploy your strategy with fake money to test real-time performance → Validate expectations: Does live performance match your backtest results? → Connect to a brokerage: Tradier, TradeStation, or Alpaca → Semi-automated execution: Signals generate automatically, but you approve the trades → Scale up: Start small, build confidence over weeks or months, then deploy real capital

This is how you go from backtesting to actually trading in the market - without gambling your savings on an untested strategy.

0:00Creating a trading strategy that does well in a backtest is actually pretty easy, and I can give you 10 trading strategies right now on what has performed well in the past.

0:12The most ultimate test for your trading strategy isn't if it did well in the past. It's how well it does right now. To test this, you're going to deploy your trading strategy.

0:26But don't be scared, because you can deploy your trading strategy without risking any money at all with a process called paper trading.

0:34Paper trading is the process of having a strategy perform real actions in the market but make fake trades. It creates trades on a demo account, not with a real brokerage, and it doesn't risk your actual money.

0:49And this testing is extremely important because it tells us how good our trading strategy is actually performing in the real world.

0:57Does the test results align with our expectations from the backtest, or is our deployed strategy a lot worse than what we expected it to be?

1:08After we paper trade our strategy for several weeks, we can gain confidence on whether it's performing how we expected it to perform.

1:18And if it is, we can start deploying the strategy with actual money. To do this, we'll use a brokerage like Tradier, TradeStation, or Alpaca, connect to their API, and start executing actual trades.

1:36Now, with somewhere like NexusTrade, the process is semi-automated.

1:42It's going to still have your indicators combined into conditions to generate signals and execute actions, but it's not going to execute the buys themselves without your explicit approval.

1:56This allows you to have maximum control of your trading strategy. It will not make decisions that you don't want it to make. Once you start with a small account, you can see how your strategy actually performs.

2:08You know, is it performing how you expected it to perform according to your backtest? You can test this out for days, weeks, months, and even years before putting yourself at real financial risk.

2:22And finally, after your trading strategy has some history behind it, after you gain some real confidence in your strategy, that is when you can deposit a real amount of money and see how your trading strategy really performs in the real world.

2:37This course is a comprehensive course on algorithmic trading. And I hope to walk you through the entire process of how do you create a trading strategy.
