How I Use Codex to Find and Apply to Software Engineering Jobs
Austin just accepted a software engineering offer worth $350,000, and this is part two of how he finds those jobs. Step one is an agentic coding tool like Codex or Claude Code; he prefers Codex for its in-app browser. Step two is making Codex work all day finding jobs that fit his goals, interests and experience, building a database of roles he actually wants.
His filters: remote-friendly or located in Austin, Texas, high compensation, and at least a little AI-focused. Codex then applies directly on each company's own website, never through LinkedIn or third-party job boards. It skips the "why do you want to work here" blurbs, flags them for later, and Austin guides Codex through those at the end. The strategy landed him offers at Coinbase, Figma and Headway, where he works now.
The video is illustrated with isometric motion graphics around his recorded commentary.

0:00$350,000 is the number on my most recent software engineering job offer and I accepted the job yesterday afternoon.
0:13Today I'm going to tell you how I go about finding these big tech, high paying, remote friendly software engineering jobs.
0:22Step 1, I use some sort of agentic coding tool like Codex or Claude Code.
0:29I particularly like Codex for this because they're in-app browser.
0:33It's just absolutely outstanding.
0:36Number two, I make Codex work pretty much all day long finding software engineering jobs that fit my goals, interests, and experience.
0:49I wanted to build a giant spreadsheet or a giant database of jobs that I am actually interested in.
0:59So, for me, I was looking for jobs that were remote-friendly.
1:03or that are located in Austin, Texas.
1:06They had to have a high compensation.
1:09And they had to be at least a little bit AI peeled.
1:13I love AI.
1:15I'm planning to use it for my next job, period.
1:19Once I found all the jobs, I instructed Codex to apply for them all directly on the company website.
1:26I don't want it to apply on LinkedIn, or I don't want it to apply from some sort of third-party job board.
1:33Apply directly on the website itself.
1:37I'd usually tell it to skip the jobs that had little blurbs on why you want to work for this company because I don't love the way AI answers those questions so it would just skip those flagged for later and I'll basically guide Codex to fill those in at the very end.
1:57By doing this strategy, I got amazing software engineering jobs even in this job market at companies like Coinbase, Figma, and finally where I will currently work at Hedway.
2:12Good luck!
