How to Backtest a TikTok Trading Strategy. The $20K Month Lost 49.8%.
For almost 20 years, internet trading gurus sold strategies that retail investors had no way to test. They sold courses on psychology and on indicators, and when the ideas failed they sold more. The face changed every couple of years, and the edge stayed the same: you could not check what they said.
That is why I have spent over six years building NexusTrade. Think of it like a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor, except it configures trading strategies and you talk to it in plain English. It can read and listen to the TikToks you watch, turn the claim into a strategy and show you the backtest. On camera I gave it a TikTok claiming $20,000 in one month from day trading. The closest mechanical version of that VWAP short lost 49.81% on $100,000 over 90 days with 476 trades and a 42.4% win rate, while SPY was up. It runs on minute-by-minute historical data for stocks, ETFs, options and crypto, connects to Claude Code, Cursor and Slack, and supports four brokerages out of the box.
