Analyze NVIDIA’s last 4 years and last 4 quarters fundamentally

Aurora

Below is the fundamental analysis for NVIDIA (NVDA) over the last four years and the last four quarters. Remember that for NVDA we did not have available Q4 2024 data, so we used Q3 2024 data as a fallback for that period. I also want to point out that if you try to measure changes between periods where the fallback data is identical (because we substituted Q3 data twice), then we can’t really compute a period‐to‐period change. In that case I’ll give you a summary of the retrieved numbers instead.

──────────────────────────────

  1. Long-Term (4-Year) Analysis

Although the data is segmented mainly by quarterly reporting dates, here’s an overall summary of the annual snapshots based on available fiscal reports:

• 2022 (Report Date: January 31, 2022)

  • Revenue: Approximately $26.91 billion
  • Gross Profit: About $17.48 billion
  • Net Income: Around $9.75 billion
  • Profitability/EBITDA: EBITDA was roughly $11.22 billion with a healthy gross profit margin of around 65% and operating margin of about 37%.
  • Balance Sheet: Total Assets were near $44.19 billion with a debt level (total liabilities) of roughly $17.57 billion, and the liquidity was excellent with a very high current ratio of ~6.65.

• 2023 (Report Date: January 31, 2023)

  • Revenue: Approximately $26.97 billion (similar to 2022)
  • Net Income: Notably lower at about $4.37 billion in one report – indicating some pressure on profitability this year.
  • EBITDA fell to around $6.00 billion, and profitability metrics (operating and net margins) declined compared to 2022.
  • The balance sheet shows a slight increase in liabilities, but liquidity (current ratio around 3.52) remained reasonable.

• 2024 (Report Date: January 31, 2024, and subsequent quarters)

  • The Q1 2024 data shows a dramatic jump with revenue around $60.92 billion and net income approximately $29.76 billion. This suggests a major turnaround or seasonally boosted performance in the current fiscal year.
  • Profitability metrics in Q1 were very strong; later quarters (Q2 and Q3) remain healthy with net profit margins ranging roughly from 48% to 57% and operating margins above 54%.
  • Liquidity and solvency remain robust; current ratios in the 4–4.2 range and low debt-to-equity ratios point to financial stability.
  • Price metrics have also evolved over these years. For instance, the market capitalization has grown from roughly $662 billion (in March 2022) to over $3.57 trillion by November 2024. Valuation ratios such as Price to Earnings (ttm) moved from about 67.6 in 2022 to around 56.9 by the latest available period, while other multiples (P/S, P/FCF) have also shifted.

Overall, the four-year trend indicates that while NVIDIA’s earlier years had more modest revenues and profitability, 2024’s numbers suggest a significant improvement in operational performance and profitability. Strong free cash flow and improved margins highlight the company’s ability to convert revenue into profit, despite high valuation ratios that reflect a premium market view.

2. Recent Quarterly Analysis (Last 4 Quarters)

For the quarterly breakdown, the available data covers:

• Q1 2024 (Report Date: January 31, 2024)

  • Revenue: ~ $60.92 billion
  • Net Income: ~ $29.76 billion
  • EBITDA: ~ $34.48 billion (derived)
  • These results indicate very strong performance in this quarter.

• Q2 2024 (Report Date: April 30, 2024)

  • Revenue: ~ $26.04 billion
  • Net Income: ~ $14.88 billion
  • EBITDA: ~ $17.32 billion
  • The margins remain excellent and the company continues to generate a substantial profit from its operations.

• Q3 2024 (Report Date: July 31, 2024)

  • Revenue: ~ $30.04 billion
  • Net Income: ~ $16.60 billion
  • EBITDA: ~ $19.08 billion
  • Profitability remains strong with high gross margins and operating margins.

• Q4 2024 – Fallback Data

  • Because Q4 2024 data was not available, we used Q3 2024 numbers as a fallback. This means that for the purpose of quarterly change comparisons, the Q4 figures are identical to Q3. As such, if you are measuring changes from Q3 to Q4, there is no variation because the same data has been repeated. I cannot meaningfully calculate a percentage change between Q3 and Q4 in this case. Still, the summary for the fallback period is the same as Q3: ~ $30.04 billion in revenue and ~ $16.60 billion in net income, with strong margin performance.

──────────────────────────────
Key Fundamental Highlights Over These Periods:

• Revenue & Income:

  • There is a considerable leap in the early 2024 figures (Q1), suggesting an accelerated growth phase compared to prior years.
  • Subsequent quarters (Q2 and Q3) maintain strong performance, though there is some seasonal variation.

• Profitability:

  • Consistently high margins and robust EBITDA figures signify that NVIDIA has excellent control over its costs and is efficiently turning revenue into profit.
  • Return on Equity and Return on Assets are healthy, indicating efficient use of capital.

• Cash Flow:

  • The free cash flow metrics are strong, reinforcing that the company generates significant cash from its operations, which helps in managing debt and funding growth.

• Debt & Liquidity:

  • The balance sheet across these periods shows low debt relative to equity and very comfortable current ratios, pointing to solid liquidity and financial health.

• Price Metrics:

  • Over the four years, NVIDIA’s stock price and multiples have risen significantly, reflecting high investor expectations.
  • Although the Price-to-Earnings and other forward ratios seem high, they are in line with the growth premium that technology companies, especially those in high-demand sectors like GPUs and AI, often command in the market.

Important Notes for This Analysis:

  1. Fallback Data Notice:

    • For the quarterly analysis of NVDA, Q4 2024 data was not available so we used Q3 2024 data as a fallback. This means that any comparison between Q3 and Q4 will show no difference because the same numbers were used.
  2. Comparison Limitations:

    • When comparing period-over-period changes, if the fallback data is identical to the original substitute, it’s not possible to determine a change; however, I have provided summaries of the data for each period.
  3. Skipped Tickers:

    • In this analysis, only NVDA’s data was available and reviewed. If other tickers were expected but lacked data, they have been skipped per your instructions.

──────────────────────────────
Summary & Rating

Based on this fundamental review, NVIDIA shows exceptional performance improvements – a significant boost in revenue and net income in early 2024 compared to prior years, excellent margins, strong free cash flow, and a sound balance sheet with low relative debt. The stock’s high valuation ratios reflect market optimism and a growth premium despite the challenges of comparing quarters when using fallback data.

Overall, I would rate NVIDIA as:

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ (5/5)
